RALLY REPORTS

DINNER DANCE

14TH- 16TH Nov 2009

Fri--- We had a good drive, but very heavy rain and so windy, we soon set up with the help of Bob, Syd and Barry. I went into Deb’s to get warm, Kev had forgotten our gas so he called Chelle to pick it up or I would be sleeping in with our dear friends to keep warm. More vans turned up (16), on went the kettle. A BIG thank you to Bob & Deb for letting us use their motor home for all of us (10), to eat our dinner, the men went out to get Indian and Chinese, we had a great evening, we had a sing song and lots of rude joke, but it did make me laugh, it was a joke on me as Chelle said she had forgot our gas, no way was I sleeping in our cold van, when I went in to get my sleeping things it was lovely and warm (thanks to you).

Sat—what a Friday night !!!! The wind was so strong we had visions of everything being blown away. We popped to Tesco for breakfast, we got a few things, it was heavy rain so we didn’t end up going anywhere else as it was so wet, so back to camp, I put the kettle on, then all into Bob’s motor home for our nibbles, we had so much we could have fed the whole caravaners.  2pm I started to do hair (8), we got ready to be in Deb’s and Bob’s for champagne at 5 p.m., so we didn’t have long, all the ladies looked great and so pretty, the men scrubbed up well too. Over to the barn for 6 p.m., I took my usual photos, then Syd got us seated at 6.30 p.m. for our dinner, the food was excellent, piping hot and plenty of it, our table had an extra dinner to share as there was one turkey too many, the veg was fresh and the roast pots were not frozen, we soon got the dancing going, we didn’t stop all night. Mark & Paul were so funny doing break dancing and their “Right said Fred” strip dance, Syd did the speeches. Harry won man of the year and I won lady, many thanks to all who voted for us, we really did appreciate it, Dave Kemp won the fishing trophy, we didn’t do the photo competition as we are waiting for the trophy, Kev, Peter & Jack won Joe’s yellow T Shirt for the most rallies, we danced the rest of the night away until 1 a.m., what a brilliant night we all had, we ended up dancing on the bar with the staff, they were so friendly, we all said how good this venue was, we ended the morning by going into Deb’s for coffee and more nibbles, got to bed 2.30 a.m.

Sun—Woke to windy but dry sunny weather, I cooked for Bob, Mark, Ann & Kev, some members started to pack up as the wind was meant to get up later, plus it gets dark early. It’s a shame more members didn’t come to this good venue, perhaps you might like to come next year when you read how good it was, and the fun we all had. Thanks to Harry and Gill for finding it, and to Syd and Janet for arranging a brilliant evening, and for Syd’s sister for the lovely flowers she made.  We all said our goodbyes, we look forward to the panto (Oh yes we do), and to spend New Year with all of you who go.

BONFIRE RALLY

HALLOWTREE 6-8TH  NOVEMBER 2009

Thursday—  We came today as Kev wanted to get members parked, thanks to all that helped us get set up so quick as it was so cold. I cooked our tea but I ended up eating it on my own as more members came and Kev was helping them set up, on went the kettle, we had a relaxing evening as it will be hectic come tomorrow .

Friday—Kev got up early as he went to pick up Julie and their caravan, as their car has died, more vans were coming in fast.  We had taken 3 aqua rolls for Mark as he needed one more, only one was any good, but Rob played a trick on him and put the one with a hole in it, Mark stood by the water tap for ages trying to fill it, we were all standing around laughing (be on your guard now Rob). When Kev got back we set Julie up, then he went and got the trailer to start getting the pallets for tomorrow as we need lots.  (We only got two as the kids enjoy riding on the trailer, so we will get the rest later). We put the old gazebo's up, we all said how nice it is having the new ones. Thanks to all the girls helping me dress them for our haunted coffee night, we decided to change the trick or treat tonight as some children weren't getting here until tomorrow, (it was a good idea as it poured down), I made the teas tonight while Kev did his bit, we didn’t hang around as the rain was getting heavy.

Saturday—We got up early as there’s so much to do, many thanks to all the small kids and the BIG ones for your help in building the bonfire while others were making their guys and dressing up there caravans, they all looked so good (Lannette and Abbi judged them). Some went out shopping, others went out for a long walk, we all had an early dinner as the night started early, Lilly took all the children to the gazebo's to make chocolate apples, then it was time to dress up for trick or treat,  thank god the weather has been great !!!! Many thanks to all members for such a great response, the kids loved it, but you BIG kids (Joe, Kev, Rob, Paul & Mark), should wait until last. We all went for Dave N and Robs walk in the dark , poor little Harry cried all the way round, it didn’t help when a BIG WOLF,  (granddad Mark), jumped out on him and the call from Kev saying there’s  a mad man running around the forest, we were all scared as we weren't allowed our torches.  It was then time to put our guys on the fire to see how good they lit, then the fireworks and Julie's winter pimms to warm us up,  thanks to Kev, Joe & Mark for the excellent display, once again also thanks for the use of so many ovens for the jacket pots, we had my chilli beans and cheese, Jennifer’s pumpkin soup (that was so nice), I got some chestnuts from Tesco, but Beryl went and picked us some more, which were much nicer, the marshmellows from Dave and Kelly  went down nicely to!!!! We had a Birthday cake made by Jennifer for Julie's!!!!! day, we ended the evening with karaoke and dancing round the bonfire.

Sunday—It rained so hard in the night but was dry when we got up, thanks to all that helped us get the gazebo's cleaned for coffee morning. We had a minutes silence at 11 a.m. for rememberance day, had our usual prize giving and so many birthdays, thanks to Bob & Joe for our brunch, no one rushed off as the sun came out. It’s so sad to think this is our last rally until New Year, we had a great time, we hope you did too, thanks to you all for helping make such a great weekend, we hope you all have a great 2010 caravanning.

Love Kev Karla Lilly Beau xxxxxx

A.G.M. Great Sailing

Fri--- we got home from our Holiday in Turkey this morning, so glad to be home, it was a holiday from hell!!! we can’t wait to have a good weekend with our friends, there were 6 vans here already, thanks to Janet for Kevs coffee, we soon set up with the help of Syd and Harry as Kevs had such a bad ear and tooth ache for two weeks, all the tablets he has taken haven’t worked. More vans turned up (14 ), we had the hall over the road so no need for gazebos, the children were hosting this rally, we got over the hall to pay Kev and Harry, I showed our photo's of our hols, they are terrible, I’ve never had such a bad time, we are all going to complain, I didn’t hang around as I needed to sleep, we need all our strength for going to school tomorrow.

Sat--- I didn’t wake up until 11.15 a.m. I must have needed it , some members went into Braintree. Harry and Gill became grandparents again today with baby Jack, (best of luck to the parents), also Luke and Claire had their baby boy today,  (they are new members). It was time to go over the hall, I cut lots of hair so thanks to Sarah and Deb for doing teas when members came, and to Julie, Deb, Sarah and Janet for doing the toast drinks, all went well, Sarah will be your new catering officer, Kelly will be your new committee member, I wish them all the best!! Derek and I can relax now, ha ha!!! We didn’t have many members come but it went well, the children were working hard in the next room getting our evening sorted for our school fun. Over the hall for 8 p.m., the men really did enjoy us ladies in our school uniforms, they had smiles all over their faces, well done to all the children, we started our day off on the school bus, us girls won. Then we had English, Cookery, Art, Science, French and German lessons, and we had to name many nursery rhymes by our music teacher  Kev, Rob and Gary had to do lines (I MUST NOT FART), as they had been doing it all night long,  lots of us were put in the naughty corner, I didn’t do anything wrong but my hair was to wacky,  but I was Teachers pet as I gave the Head an apple, Kelly had to give Kev the cane so many times , (I think he liked it),  Dave N and Jennifer  were caught kissing  behind the bike shed so they got put in the naughty corner, there were lots of cheating going on, but us girls still won most of the challenges.  We ended the evening with a school disco, a brilliant night had by all, I've not laughed this much in a long time, well done to all the Teachers, you kept us kids well under control, (Well you tried ), back to our vans, Kev cooked burgers and sausages for our midnight feast.

Sun—over to the hall for coffee and prize giving,  well Kathy won everything that was going, she lost her voice so she couldn’t say much, we have had such a good time, also thanks to Jennifer and Kelly for your help with the children, hope to see you all soon.

Bulphan

9th to 11th October 2009

Thursday—We dropped off our van today, but I went home as I had things to do, Kev went to work from there, he spent the evening with the others.

Friday—I got here around 11a.m., Syd was just taking some members to Costco, Jack and Edna had just arrived. I took Beau out for a walk then I had a great day relaxing, watching T.V., reading and just watching the world go by. (it was pure heaven), more vans came, on went the kettle, Kev got back after work but went straight out to put the gazebos up as it was getting dark, thanks to the helpers. Sarah & Rob were hosting this rally, the Coopers were meant to help but Paul has swine flu. (hope he gets better soon), over for teas and paying our fees and our usual chats, Sarah also made some great cakes.

Saturday—Woke to a  dull day, Kev and I had to shoot out at 11 a.m. as it was our Annual Forget-me-not memorial service at Pitsea crematorium, we had a beautiful day, the sun shone for us as we let off our balloons, got back around 4.30 p.m. the children had fun cooking cookies and decorating them under the gazebos for their  weekend quiz, I did Janet's hair as they were going to a surprise 60th  with Harry and Gill. Lilly and all the children went down the field to play bat 'n ball, its so nice to hear them laugh, then she took them all to the village shop. Thanks to Julie for cooking our dinner and for Deb and Bob for letting us all eat in their camper. We got a knock on the door to say Jack had cut off the top of his finger, he was putting down his dinner table and it got trapped, so Gary was taking him to Basildon hospital, (as Peter had had a glass of wine with his dinner), many thanks to Linda for seeing to him, and to Gary for taking him and picking him back up at midnight, they dressed it, but he will need to go to Addenbrooks  Hospital on  Monday to see their surgeon. We had a brilliant night with charades and making up T.V. adverts, the children won, they really put their heart in it. Joe and Mark enjoyed playing it too, we have photos to prove it, but they must be XXX rated, thanks to out hosts you did a grand job.  I went back to the van as I was getting cold but soon every one went home.

Sunday--  Jack was ok thank god, he was all smiles at coffee, a lot of jokes were said, Syd had to say a BIG SORRY to Janet as he was wrong about the gazebos, so that really did cause a laugh. I won the bonus ball, the raffle and the arrival prize.  (It's nice to win the arrival prize), so you can guess my name was mud, but living with Kev, my skin is thick !!!!, thanks to Joe for cooking breakfast, We hope Mark and Ann had fun in their new van. The wind came up so we got the gazebos down, then members started to go home, we were the last ones, the rain started. Only  6 mins to get home, it may have been a very small rally, but it was a brilliant one, thanks again to Sarah and Rob for a great weekend.

Kev, Karla, Lilly and Beau

Fields End Water

(Fishing Rally )

25th-27th Oct 09

Fields End Water was the chosen venue for our annual fishing competition this year

Kellie very kindly let me have some "me time", so I set off on Wednesday with just Fizz for company.

Wednesday

I arrived around 1:30 and was taken back by the changes made to the site since the clubs first visit in June 2007, the old rally field is now levelled with a gravel road and marked pitches with electric and water and a lovely shower block.

I took a stroll around the main lake for an hour or so then Harry and Jill arrived just as the kettle had boiled, so I made us all a lovely cup of tea in a proper cuppa teapot!  We had a chat and then all set up our units for the weekend, then had dinner and settled in for the night.

Thursday

Woke up to a lovely sunny day, had breakfast and had made a big pot of tea for Harry, Gill and myself when Derek and Pat arrived, so it was 4 teas and a coffee, I had just washed up the cups when Sid and Janet arrived so I popped on the kettle again and was able to make Janet a cuppa for a change, as she always makes me one when I arrive.  Soon after, Mick and Penny arrived, followed by Eric and Glynis, as it was a lovely sunny day some of the men sat around outside and had lunch together.  After lunch I went fishing for the rest of the afternoon. I returned back from the lake around 6 pm, Kellie arrived soon after with Mike and Kelsey, to save time cooking dinner we popped down to the local chippy, it was yummy, “yes we can have chips on our diet as long as we count the points”, watched TV and then went to bed.

Friday

Woke at up 7 am to yet another lovely day, me and Mike popped over the tackle shop for some maggots but the shop was sold out and the delivery would be around 12 noon so we chilled out until 11 am and then went down to the lake to set up our rods etc ready for the maggots to arrive. Kellie and Kelsey went down the road to the factory shop and had a girly shop, in Kelsey's case, this meant an overdose of PINK. When they came down to the lake the fish dived down to the bottom to save their eyes from burning due to the bright pink!!  We had not had any luck catching fish, when an old man stopped his car and asked how we were doing, I said we stand more chance of catching a cold, he sat down with us and made some changes to our set up and within ½ hour we were catching fish, including an 11½ lb Carp, my best fish to date, then we went back for dinner around 6 pm, by which time the rest of our members had arrived. Later it was time to pay our dues for the weekend and sort out who was going to fish in the competition, it was a total of 10 fishermen, 7 adults and 3 children.

As most members know Mike and Kelsey's dad passed away in 2007, so they decided to donate a perpetual junior fishing trophy to the club in memory of their dad Tony Gillett, so now the children can have their own fishing competition along side the adults.

Saturday

We woke up at 6 am as we had to meet up at 7 am to draw numbers to where we were going to fish on the lake, we started at 8 am and finished at 1 pm.  I was lucky to win the competition for the 2nd year running with a 7½ lb, followed by Dave N with a 5½ lb, then Kevin took 3rd place again with 3½ lb followed by Mark, a true sports man who spent a lot of time helping the kids, Sid, Harry and Derek set up their rods and showing them how to improve there fishing techniques.  Sadly none of the adults caught a fish apart from Mark who had to leave early to pick up his new caravan.  He has decided to join the rest of us in towing a wobbly box instead of a tent, so hopefully we will see more of Mark and Ann next year.

The junior competition was won by Thomas, then Josh followed by Mike, who was unlucky not to have caught in the competition but caught some lovely fish later in the afternoon, I was lucky to spend some time with some of the local match anglers who showed me some other methods of fishing and let me have a go with their rod and caught 15 good size fish in just over an hour, just shows you the difference local knowledge and experience can make.  I missed out on the mass bbq because I was the one caught up in the fishing.  After a clean up and dinner we all went over to the gazebos for the evening, as most of us had had a long day we just sat around chatting and having a drink. Pat and Janet made some pancake mix, and Penny and Dave N cooked them for us all, and some lovely toasted crumpets which went down a treat, we all drifted back to our vans after a long day.

Sunday

Mike and Kelsey did the raffle, whilst Karla was cutting some members hair, then we had the 11 am meeting, we won the adults competition and Mike and Kelsey won the children’s one, then the results of the fishing competion was announced, the winners for 2009 were myself and Thomas Nichols, Penny won the lottery and we won the bonus ball and the arrival Prize, hence I'm writing this report and giving Kellie a break seeing as I was here earlier than her.

Hope you enjoyed the weekend as much as we did

Love Dave Kellie Mike and Kelsey xxxx

Fri---

Kev had another day off work so we set off by 9.30 am, had a nice drive, it was a long drive but a nice straight road so it seemed quick, there were 6 vans here already, more came after us, (9) all together, we soon set up and had a nice walk to the lake, it has changed so much since we were last here, the man has spent so much money on this site he only has a cl site and normal caravanning, he said we are the last rally he will have here as he can earn much more money, its such a shame as its lovely here.

Up went the gazebos for coffee, Mark and Ann came to stay with us tonight as they are going to pick up their new van tomorrow, but have such a long drive, he will do a little fishing before they go. Thanks to Ann for helping me do teas, we didn’t stay out too long as it was chilly.

Sat---

All the fishermen got together for 7a.m. to sort out where they were to fish, 3 children also fished for their own trophy. Mark woke us up wanting his bacon sandwich, they had to wait until we were ready as we wanted a lie in. When we got there not many fish had been caught, the men looked bored, poor Harry, who has never fished before made the most of it. Dave and Thomas won at the end of it, but as the whistle went Josh caught a massive Barbell, (look on Pat's web for the photos), at least the weather has been kind to them.

Some members went out shopping. Sarah and Rob had the quickest game of boules ever, we had a mass BBQ, lots of beers and sausages were past around, we ate in our vans as it turned chilly , the children played outside until it got dark then we all went in the gazebos, we just sat around talking then Pat, Janet and I made up some pancake mix, thanks to Penny & Dave N for cooking them, we didn’t have a late night as there were so many other caravans here, plus it was chilly.

Sun---

What a lovely day, we had coffee outside as its so hot, Syd did his bit, Kev said who won the fishing and Derek said a big thank you to Mark D as he had helped lots of the non- fishermen yesterday before he had to go. No one rushed off as the sun was so hot, it's such a shame we won't be back here as it is a nice site, thanks for finding it Harry.

We must make the most of the rallies  we have left this year, its gone so quickly, only 5 more before we start again next year, thanks to all that joined us on this rally, we pray you had a safe drive home.

                    Love Karla, Kev & Beau

7th to 9th August

Oakview Nurseries

Ardleigh

Hi fellow Rallyers

What a lovely summer rallying we have had.  Cyril and I have been to every one, we have gone early, stayed late and gone on to other sites. The only time we have gone home has been to keep appointments and do lots and lots of washing.

I think I am supposed to give a report on Ardleigh, but all the rally's have been good and they have all merged, still here goes.

We arrived at Ardleigh on Wednesday expecting it to be deserted like last time we had a rally here, instead there were lots of people there including The Christian Fellowship, they had a lovely domed tent with a tea annex, they all took their tables and chairs into the tent for tea and a sing along, they sung such happy songs that we think they had more than tea in their cups, cheers.

The site owner had improved the site since last time, including putting lots more electric hook ups. The weather was good, some went for a walk around the lakes, while Cyril and I went to the sailing club.  The evening time most went over to the gazebo's for some fun.  All in all a good rally, I think that all in all they have all been good Rallies.

Happy Rallying everyone

Regards

Jean & Cyril

Clacton

11th-13th Sept 2009

Fri---

Kev came home at 10.30 today so we picked Lannette up and was on our way, only took 1 hour,  lots of vans already here, thanks to Janet for Kev’s  tea, some members were out shopping, Deb and Bob had took themselves off to Colchester by train for a look around and was hoping to meet Joe and Julie for a lift back but got back before they set off, we soon set up and went for a walk to see the new vans.  We wasn’t impressed with the ones we saw so will have to go to the show. Got back to camp, more vans turned up so on went the kettle, (25 vans). Thanks to all the strong men for putting the gazebo's up, we had our dinner outside as the sun was so nice, Syd and Janet popped to see Mick Gibbs as he has been very ill, so we wish him a speedy get well,  thanks to Julie for helping me make teas, it has turned very chilly tonight so on went our heating, Kev took Beau out, we were worried in case the little sod went walk abouts, but all was well.

Sat---

Woke to such a dull day, Kev took our men and Julie to the boot sale, they all got lots of bargains, (or rubbish). Lannette and I had a lazy morning, it was great to do what we wanted, took Beau for a nice walk, the sun soon came out, some went into Clacton shopping, some went crabbing, we hear Syd went on some very fast rides and was green when he came off. We had another look around the caravan shop and vans, no one got a new van this time. Jennifer and the boys came to see us as Dave’s  away,  they stayed for dinner and tonights fun !!!  We also had Bob, Pat and friends come to see us, her friend  Eva knitted me lots of toys to sell for our support group that I run so its so nice to meet the lady who has raised a lot of money for us, (I can now put a name to her face). Kev’s dad also came to visit, we had a Mass BBQ then over to the gazebo's for Janet and Syd's Trivial pursuit game, we were in four groups, we had a great evening, (although some do take it so serious), and no we wasn’t cheating, Rob L was looking on Kev's computer at the awning he was selling, as it only had 15 mins to go. It has got so cold I went back to put our heating on, the evening finished too quick.

Sun---

Woke to a dull and windy morning, Kev and I went over to sort out the teas and have a tidy up, our table was full of Joe and Rob's beer cans, messy sods. Thanks to Lannette for helping me do teas. The usual was said, then all the gazebo's were took down as the weather looked bleak, thanks to all for a great weekend, the year is nearly up, see you all soon xxxxxx

BUTLEY VILLAGE HALL

28th-31st AUGUST 2009

Thursday--- Yes once again we are one of the OAP'S club !!!!

Kev called me today and asked if I could change my hair appointments as he wanted to get here to sort out the parking of the vans as the field wasn’t as big as we first thought, we had a lovely drive, the roads were not busy at all, the sun was shinning and all our friends were sitting outside their vans, we soon set up, I had a very bad headache so I went for a lie down, (something I have never done in my life), and had a sleep. Kev got members sorted out where to park. We were invited into Chelle and Paul's van for drinks and to chat about their holiday with Rob and Sarah's family, it was nice to catch up with them.

Friday--- I didn’t get up too early as my head was still banging, Kev sorted more vans out and I  lazed around. The vans were coming in so fast, one after another, (33). Some members went out for a bike ride, others went shopping, some had a drive into Woodbridge.  We stayed behind as Kev wanted to get everyone parked up, we had some old members rejoin this weekend, Mark Dehann, yes our peace is now shattered, Mark is back, his new lady is Ann, and a very nice lady she is too! His Uncle Terry and Aunty Pat came as guests in their tent, it was so nice to see them again, over to the hall for our usual paying of fees, thanks to Beryl H & Janet for teas, Derek and Pat got there goodies out for sale, Beryl, Roger, Gill, Harry, Dave and Jennifer were all doing their bit to host this weekend, so many thanks to them all.

Saturday--- I woke up with the sun shinning and Kev singing happy birthday to me, I got lots of cards and presents from my family and even more from my friends in the club, many thanks for making my day go so well. I had a lovely surprise, our girls came up to spend the day with us, we had our lunch, then it was time for our car—treasure hunt, it was brilliant, much better than our usual one as we had the best of both, it was very clever the way Gill & Harry did it and much more safer. I think we should do this again as we didn’t get in any other cars way, and it was such a nice walk through the woods, finding our clues as we wasn’t on a time scale. (I think we knew Marks back - cheating), many thanks to all that helped them do this. We ended up having a Mass BBQ as the sun was still nice, over to the hall for the "Krypton Factor" evening, we were put into groups, we were Blue Fish, lots of hard puzzles to be done and mind boggling things. We needed our brains for this evening. Our girls ended up staying as they enjoyed it so much.

Sunday---  had a lazy  morning,  Kev went out to look for a boot sale as our van was over flowing with woman and he couldn’t move. Its  our 29th anniversary today, so the girls gave us our cards and presents, we got so many, it was lovely,we got ready for our afternoon of fun, Dave Nicoll made us a "Krypton Factor" assault course with his helpers, we had such fun and I must say .... the girls team won. Ended up with lots of water, poor Jennifer and Kelly got the brunt of it thanks to Kev, but they soon got him back. While we BBQ'd  Roger played some very old films from the 77 club. it was great to see old members, some that aren't with us any more.

Thanks to Joe, Julie, Bob and Deb for cooking our Anniversary dinner, we ate it in the hall, it was beautiful, better than going out to dinner. 8 pm., was time to go over the hall for "International Disco" and an American supper, most of the members dressed for the part, it does help make the evening go so well, we danced the night away and played many games,  Deb and Bob invited us outside their van as they had got two Chinese lanterns to let off for our Anniversary. Sorry if we were too noisy as it was midnight, but it was a special time, we went back into our vans, Kev took Beau for a walk, then as he was putting the genny in our car Beau went off.  No sleep for us tonight.

Sun--- It was light at 5 am., with no sleep all night, Abbi and I have been driving around Butley and Woodbridge until 3am, then Kev took over, many thanks to our friends who helped us look for him and to all the villagers who also got in their cars and looked. I can’t believe people that don’t know us wanted to help find him.  Farmers got in their trucks to look around, I will send a thank you card to the village hall, Kev finally found him at 9.15 am., about 8 miles away, my head is buzzing. Over to the hall for teas and prize giving, many thanks must go to Beryl & Roger for all their hard work and to Gill, Harry, Dave and Jennifer and all their  helpers in making this weekend go so well. No one rushed off, as the sun was so hot, all the children have had such a great time, Lilly said she didn’t want to go home and loved seeing all her friends again, and she misses you all so much, this was such a good weekend, (after we found Beau of course). We hope you all had a safe drive home, see you all soon.

Love Kev, Karla, Girls & Beau xx

P.S. many thanks to you all for my Birthday cards, presents and cake, especially to my girls for the surprise x

BUTLEY VILLAGE HALL

 26.08.09 – 31.08.09

Arrived Friday afternoon to find several members already set up, by coffee time our numbers had grown to 32 with one late comer on Saturday, making the grand total of 33 for our last long weekend of this year.

Saturday was sunny and most people went out in the morning so they could be back for this years eco-friendly car rally, which was a long walk through the forest collecting clues along the way, one family got lost so walked further than anyone else, (I think the Larkin family wanted to collect extra points). Everyone returned safely and all seamed to have enjoyed themselves.

After a mass b.b.q it was over to the hall for a brain testing krypton factor, I spent most of the evening and the next day trying to do a hard jigsaw puzzle. The rest of the teams had various puzzles and questions to answer.

A good evening thanks to Beryl& Roger.

Sunday most people spent the morning recovering from mental fatigue, after lunch we had sports day for big and small which ended, as normal, in everyone getting very wet. All clean and changed it was over to the hall for an international disco and games. Well done Jennifer & David.

All to soon coffee morning had arrived and our weekend was over. Thanks to all involved for a great weekend.

Museum of Power 21st—23rd—Aug 09

Fri---

The sun has been out all day, but it got to 2 pm and the heavens opened up, it was so windy. Kev hooked up and off we set, it only took 40 minutes, there were lots of caravans here, and more followed us (19 vans). We didn’t expect that many as the next rally is bank holiday, so it was great to see so many out. The sun was shining, we soon set up, had our dinner outside, then we put up the gazebo's, thank you to those that helped us, we were invited over to the model village as it was there "lighting up the village night", we could pay 50 pence and light a candle and make a wish. It looked beautiful , so I made two wishes, all the money made goes back into the model village and little havens hospice, so that’s worth every penny. We could also go into the museum as they were starting up the BIG engines. Members said how fascinating it was. I didn’t stay for that as I needed to get the teas ready. We had teas a little late; we waited for our members to come back, thanks Julie for helping me do teas. We had our usual chats and laughs, Joe and Kev wanted a midnight feast and invited the new members Joe and Zoe over, we will have to call him young Joe as it will get confusing.

Sat---

What a beautiful morning, we had breakfast then we went out for a ride to the caravan shop down the road, some went to Maldon park, uncle Fred took lots of members on one of his nature walks and was out for 3 hours along the river and picked blackcurrants , some just lazed in the sun. This afternoon they played boules, it was nice to see them having a laugh, Peter G was happy as he won!!!! We had a mass BBQ, the sun was still hot so we ate outside, over to the gazebo's, many thanks to Beryl H and her helpers for fun and games. The men had to guess ladies sayings and we guessed the men’s, then we played what’s in the bag. There were things in there that Beryl hadn’t put in, our members do like mucking about. Then we played catch phrase, a very good night had by all.

Sun---

Another nice day, Kev, Syd & Lenny started to get the gazebo's down while I got coffee ready, then I cut hair. Thanks to Julie for your help once again, the usual things were said, some went back over to the model village for another look, some members were going off to another site, then they will meet us next weekend, (so we wish you a happy time), no one rushed off, although the "V" festival is on this weekend so we might get caught in that traffic if we’re not careful, thanks to you all for such a great weekend with great company.

Ardleigh

7th 9th August 09

Oakview Nursery

Thurs…

Arrived at Ardleigh on Thursday. Pat & Derek, Jean & Cyril were already there, so we had a welcome cup of tea. This was our first time at this venue, and thought it was a very nice place.

Gill and Harry were not long behind us, then Joe, Julie & Kiera turned up, which was great.

Fri…

Awoke to another very hot day, no one wanted to do anything so we just sat and relaxed. Caravans began to arrive all day ,19 vans in all, what a good turn out considering a lot of people are on holiday. Friday evening went over to the Gazebo's to pay our dues.  Karla and her sister Lannette made the coffee. How good it was to see Lannette looking so well.

Sat…..

Another hot day, stood and watched Karla, Joe and Julie clean their caravan carpets before we went for a walk, with Pat & Derek, and June & Brian, down to the pub where we had a nice relaxing drink before we walked back. We had a mass barbeque in the evening and most people sat outside their caravans to eat. Then over to the gazebos for a quiz that Roland and his daughter Katherine put together.

Sun…

Still very hot, Karla and her sister made the tea again and Peter stood in for Sid, and Jack for Janet, well done to you both. Jack, Edna & Peter were staying on for a week. Jean & Cyril were staying on for a few days more. Hope the weather holds out for them. Thanks to Roland & his Daughter for a pleasant Saturday evening. Thank you all for your company see you on the next rally.

Fri....

What a lovely day its been, we left ours at 3 pm to pick Lannette up, had a good drive, it only took an hour, (and we didn’t get lost Joe). 15 vans here, we set up then more vans turned up, 19 vans in the end.

We sat outside and ate dinner, then Kev went over and sorted out the gazebo,s, Lannette helped me do teas, Harry,s back so he did the lottery, Kev took the fees. Everyone came over as it was still so warm out, Peter did an adult quiz and a colouring competition for the kids, we only had Kiera this weekend, then came new members Joe and Zoe and their son Tyler, we also had some grandchildren come for the weekend, Gary & Linda,s  grandchild, also named Kiera,  she was such a little darling,  she is only 2 but spoke like she was 22, we sat outside Joe,s until late as it was so warm, we did have a laugh!!!!!!

Sat ....

What a beautiful day, so HOT we lazed around this morning, some went for a walk and ended up at the pub, I took my carpet cleaner so Joe could do his carpets, he took it home to do the beds, as Kiera needed to sleep on them, Julie took Lannette, Kiera and me to Colchester castle and shopping, we had a lovely time, we picked Sophie and Mitch up from work and got back in time for our mass BBQ, we all sat outside to eat as it was so warm, we had lots of visitors today, it was over to the gazebos for tonight,s quiz thanks to Roland and Katherine for doing it for us, it got damp tonight so we didn’t stay outside for long.

Sun...

HOT HOT HOT,  what a brilliant weekend we've had, (as good as Spain or France), Lannette helped me get the teas ready, I cut hair before coffee  today. Kev sorted out the gazebo's,  thanks for the help moving them. We sat in the sun, Peter did Syd's job, Jack did Janet's job, Kev tried to sort out who would take a gazebo, its so hard trying to get members to take them so we ended up taking another one, plus all the catering things, it doesn't seem fair that we take so much. If anyone would like to do the catering next year, (as I only  did it because no one wanted to), I've done two years now, it would be nice for another member to have a go, ,just let me or another member know.

Some lucky members were staying on a few more days, thanks for a great weekend see you all soon

                                     Love

Battlesbridge

24th. - 26th. July

We arrived after a sunny journey and found 9 units already there. After sorting ourselves out we joined all the others in sunning ourselves in the sunshine.

However, it didn't last. The sky darkened and it rained and thundered. it only lasted about an hour (so we thought).

In the evening it decided to give us another wash, and what a wash it was. Very heavy rain and forked lightning and then it decided to give us giant hailstones as well. After clearing in about 1½ hours it stayed fine.

The gazebos stood up very well to a strong wind which was still blowing Sunday morning.

Saturday

Members were free to go shopping, viewing antiques etc. weather stayed dry. The evening Disney Quiz was hosted by a young lady whose name is BECKIE, spelt with IE (who put us oldies to shame), who kept good command of the proceedings (Well Done).

Sunday

Usual coffee and tea provided by Edna and Beryl. The quiz was won by the team with the largest number of children in it. Can't remember what they were called (Blame old age).

(PS Remembered now, I think they were called “The Coop-kins”).

TOAD HALL, NACTON

Hello it's me, Jean, I want to tell you about what a great rally I have just been on to Toad Hall.

It started good from the moment I saw the lovely sign of a big fat colourful toad, then just a short drive down a track onto a really nicely laid out rally field with short cut grass.

Derek and Pat were already there, Derek showed us where to park while Pat made us tea. Thanks.

The weather was lovely, the man who ran the site was very friendly and helpful.

Next to arrive was Rita and Bill, followed by Syd and Janet. Then the new gazebo's arrived.  They look good, but a little dark inside. I think a few more windows would do the trick.  On the whole it's thumbs up for the new gazebo's.

On Saturday we all had a bbq, which for me turned into a birthday party. I had a great time, everyone was so nice to me, and of course I got drunk again.

Then Karla got out her hairdressing salon, Cyril had his hair cut, then I had my first hair cut with Karla, after 35 years of the same lady cutting my hair every month. Karla really made a fuss of me, she even blow dried my hair. Thanks Karla.

I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone on the rally for the great time I had.

Fri---

We really like this venue, although it’s on the A14, the grass is great. We got here a little later than we wanted as I took Kev's dad to hospital this afternoon, so we ended up leaving later, it’s been raining at home all day but the sun was so hot when we got here, we ate outside tonight. Kev helped me fill up the urn as I got things ready for teas, tonight Derek did Harry's job again, Kev took the fees, 14 vans  this weekend. Syd drove back home for a meeting, so he missed teas, we had our new green gazebos delivered here so the men put one up, it looks so posh !!! The rest will go up tomorrow, I went back to our van as it got chilli.

Sat---

We were sitting outside our van at 8 am as the sun was so great, Joe cooked the men breakfast, he had to pop to Ipswich as his car was playing up while towing, we took Deb, Bob, Sarah and Rob into Felixstowe.  The beach was so busy, we went along the sea front then parked up and walked around the town, got back to camp at 1.30 pm, had lunch, the beers started to flow and the rest of the gazebos were put up, they look great, a BIG thank you to Gary for your hard work in getting them for us. We had a mass BBQ and all ate together outside as the sun was still shinning, I put up banners and balloons for Derek’s birthday, then to be told it was Jean's 74th birthday and Fred, Robs and Charlie R last week, so lots to sing to. As it turned cold we made our way into the gazebos, it was decided that members didn’t want to do anything to-night, we just wanted to sit round and chat, while Jean told us her life story, which was very interesting, and some went back to their vans and played games. Kev put some soft background music on and the children wanted to bring their tent in the gazebos to sleep, and many adults tried to get in there which was funny.

Sun---

Woke to thick mist today but the sun soon broke through, some members got up early and went to a boot sale. Deb helped me with coffee, Mick and Theresa came to visit, it was lovely to see them.

We had a big cook up, while some went back to Felixstow beach, no one rushed to go as it’s so hot, we had better weather here than we’ve had in France!!   A lazy weekend, but a very relaxing one, some members are staying on a few more days, hope you all have a safe drive home.

Love Kev, Karla & Beau

Coggeshall Braintree

12th- 14th June 09

Friday--- Had a nice drive, that road doesn’t get any better it’s still as bumpy!!! Lots of vans were here and everyone was lazing in the sun. while Kev got set up I went over to chat to members, it’s nice to see so many out. We had our dinner outside as the sun was so HOT. Thanks to those who helped put the gazebos up. Chell, Paul & the boys came and invited their neighbours, so welcome to Lenny, Helen & Lisa, we hope we didn’t put you off from coming out again with us all, thanks to Jennifer & Janet for teas, Derek did Harry’s job tonight as they are in France, it got chilly as the night went on so I went into our van, the weather is meant to be HOT tomorrow.

Saturday--- A great morning, Kev was outside at 7.30 am. We were sitting outside for breakfast, it’s going to be lovely today. We had a free morning until 11a.m then Syd had worked out a bike ride for those who wanted it, lots of us got ready, it was very nice, we ended up at the barn, we had teas and cake and then fed the ducks, I bought a nice plant, thanks to Pat for putting it in her basket, she thought it was going to lose its flowers as it was bobbing around so much as she cycled back, we just had enough time for lunch then it was time to decorate our bikes for our 77 club obstacle bike ride. I did have a moan as it was so... hard to do, the kids were great at it but us girls aren’t as good as them, but we did try. Thanks to Syd & Dave N for doing it for us, some members went off to play golf, it was soon time for mass BBQ, we ate outside as the sun was so hot,  then over to the gazebos for Janet’s quiz and crumpets, that went down nicely, we ended the evening with music, it started to rain as we went to bed.

Sunday--- great sun again, Bob cooked for the men, Joe & Julie went home early as they had to go out, I also went home with Chell at 10:30 am as I had to work at our local theatre, Kev tells me Deb and Syd made teas, and Chell won the arrival prize.

We would like to wish all those going on holiday a happy and safe drive, see you all soon.

Spring Bank Holiday

At

Gosport

22nd-30th May 2009

As I am now “semi retired” we decided to start our holiday on Wednesday so we left home at 10 a.m., and unlike some had a lovely journey down to the site arriving at around 12.30, we were shown our pitch by the site manager and before we had time to set up Cyril and Jean arrived so I put the kettle on and we all decided to stop and have lunch before we finished setting up, just as we were in the middle of putting up the awning Janet and Syd arrived, so on went the kettle again, (it’s not all it’s cracked up to be arriving first!!!).

At around 5.30 p.m., Syd, Janet, Derek and I walked down to the beach as we were told that the Queen Victoria would be sailing by at 6 p.m., dead on time she sailed passed looking very impressive, after an ice-cream, (which Syd treated us to), we strolled back to camp for our dinner, and once we were fed and watered we all gathered in our awning for the evening for a game of cards, then off to bed in readiness for the Thursday arrivals, (by the way the weather has started off great, lets hope it continues for the rest of the holiday).

Thursday saw the arrival first of Debbie and Bob, then came Rita and Bill, yes you have guessed it, on went the kettle, and we all sat around chatting, with the sun shining brightly and the week ahead looking very promising. Last to arrive Thursday was Harry and Gill, once everyone had had there dinner we all took a stroll down to the beach and after the boys had their fun seeing who could bounce there stones across the water the most times, we all ended up in the club house where we had a good laugh discussing one of our favourite subjects (guess what?)

Friday, Pete & Di, Jo & Julie and later in the day came Karla & Kevin.

Saturday the final 5 came, Penny & Mick came first and finally after an horrendous journey came Peter and Jack & Edna. The weather still holding out, this looks like it could be a great holiday, with plenty to do and all amenities close by, some have already ventured on the ferry to Portsmouth with the rest of us soaking up the sun for fear it might disappear, as Harry wasn’t going to do the lottery until Wednesday Derek decided he would do Saturday’s, and the news has just come through that we have finally won more than the usually £10, which on general consensus we have decided to “sh……t or bust” and put the whole  £74 on Wednesday’s, (wish us luck).

Sunday again was even hotter than the previous days, some of us toddled off to a boot sale in the morning, while others went to the submarine museum, some just decided on a lazy day around camp, (no prizes for guessing who did what), once the sun had gone down and we had all been fed we gathered together for an open air evening of chat, then off to bed, another great day.

Monday we awoke to heavy rain, but the weatherman says it is going to be the hottest day yet, so we are keeping our fingers crossed, someone is certainly looking down on us this year, within an hour the rain had gone and out came the sunshine, it was so hot everyone just lazed around, too hot to do anything.

Tuesday again woke to rain but by mid morning it was gone, everyone went out to various activities, when we came back in the afternoon, some of us went on a bike ride to the next town, wind in our faces on the way there but very handy on the way back. Back at camp and time for a relax before dinner, then we all gathered in the gazebo’s for pancakes and a chat. Here’s keeping everything crossed for tomorrow.

Wednesday, not so good, more rain, hopefully as before it won’t last too long, sadly it rained most of the day, but tomorrow promises to be kinder, and we have just learned that we have won £20 with our £74 worth of tickets, (going down), so we all decided that we might as well blow it all on “scratch cards”, we won, we won, £4, Syd donated a further 50p, so we were able to purchase 3 Euro Millions for Friday. (Watch this space).

Thursday, back to sunshine, and boy was it hot, too hot to do anything or go anywhere, so we had a lazy day just relaxing, and then back to our childhood in the evening with, party games in the gazebo’s, which fascinated fellow campers!!!

Friday morning was even hotter, so after our breakfast of variously filled omelettes, which Kevin & Derek cooked (I had a cheese and mushroom, my compliments were expressed to the chef’s), deeelicious, some of us decided to slowly pack up in readiness for our journey home tomorrow before the sun got too hot. In the afternoon Kevin, Karla, Bob and Debbie went along to Lee-on-Solent, as Kevin didn’t want to go home without having a swim. Derek and I opted for the beach that was in walking distance from the site, there we sat for a couple of hours, there was a very welcoming breeze on the shore, but then back to camp as we were all going out for a celebration meal for Harry’s 70th birthday.

No-one had a late one as we were all leaving in the morning for home, except for Jean and Cyril who were heading for a caravan sales as they had arranged to trade in there caravan for a new one, and guess what, yes we won again a whopping £14, (going up), yes we re-invested, this time on Saturdays lottery. End of story!!!!

Thank you all for your company on holiday, it was a lovely holiday with all the right combinations including a nice site, good company, plenty to see and do and of course not forgetting the fabulous weather, (about time we struck gold)

Friday--- We left today at 2. 45p.m as Kev had the day off, we had a lovely drive, with the sun pouring down on us, it took us 3 and a half hours to get here, Joe and Bob helped us set up quickly. Many thanks to Bob and Deb for cooking our dinner of chicken in red wine, we ate in their camper, and watched another couple trying to put up their big tent, 3 hours later, and in the pitch black, it still wasn’t up, our men were going to help them, when three other men stepped in, it did cause a laugh, (although the man didn’t think so!). After dinner we had Julie’s beautiful desert of strawberry Pavlova’s, we had a nice walk around the camp site, we lost our men as we walked around the site but found them in the club house with their pints. We stayed until it shut, let’s pray that we have nice weather for the rest of this week.

Saturday---We got up early to the sound of the navy men doing their early morning drill. The sun was so bright that we didn’t waste time laying in bed, Joe cooked Kev a little breakfast while I put banners on Bob and Debbie’s camper for their Anniversary of 28 years today.

We got the bus outside the campsite into Gosport village and then the ferry across to Portsmouth. What a beautiful day, the sun was so strong, we bought lots of things and we walked for miles and miles, our feet were hanging off!!! We walked the wrong way back to the ferry but saw lots of Portsmouth; we got back to a much-welcomed drink. I have cooked dinner for everyone for Bob and Deb’s anniversary.

We sat outside our van drinking and chatting and went to bed around 11 p.m, as we were all tired.

Sunday--- Woke early again as the sun was shinning once again, and we didn’t want to waste it, we went to a boot sale, it was so BIG, it was in the local collage, we all got lots of bargains, our men are going back tomorrow, but us girls wont be as its far to BIG, we got back in time for lunch then off for our bike ride all around Gosport, we were out for 3 hours and our bums felt it, Rita & Bill’s son & daughter-in-law came to visit today as they are on holiday, it was nice to meet them. Syd and Janet drove some to Butlers Hard today, they had a good day. Bob cooked again tonight, we all ate outside as its so hot, we all got a tan today, I started cutting hair tonight as lots wanted it done, by the time I finished it was dark, so Bob had his torch over me, (I’ll have to check Janet’s & Gill’s in the morning). Most members sat outside our van tonight, we sat around chatting, we will put the gazebos up tomorrow, as we haven’t had time today. Kev had his laptop out tonight, we were talking to our girls on the Web cam, it was great as we could see them and they could see us, every one was chatting to them, it finished the evening off.

Monday--- Woke to typical bank holiday weather RAIN !!! It didn’t put Kev or Bob off, they still went to the boot sale again and got more bargains, Joe stayed in bed, it stopped raining at 10.30 am. I stayed in our van watching the poor sods in the tents opposite trying to dry off, the sun soon come out and it was soooo HOT. We popped to Asda to stock up, then went for another bike ride, then we got back and lazed in the sun, I got Kiera some water balloons to play with, but Kev got hold of them and started to throw them about, it ended in a water fight, as he then got the hose pipe and got us all wet, out came the beers and BBQ’s, a great day had by all.

We ended up eating in our awning, as it came over cloudy and got a little chilli, we had an early night as we had had too much sun today.

Tuesday--- It rained heavy again in the night, but was sunny by 7.30 am. We went to Fareham today, its such a lovely place, Kev got some BBQ lighters in a cheap shop and ended up going back to buy more for other members and got back in time for lunch.

Kev sorted out Bob’s Digi box in his camper while we got more sun rays then we had another bike ride to Lee-on-the-Solent, it got up quite windy and was hard work, we were shattered by the time we got there, Pat and Derek came with us, we had a great ride back through the shops and looked in them. A few members went to the submarine and round the docks, some went to Buleigh motor museum and had a brilliant day. Kev, Joe and Bob put the gazebos up tonight, we asked everyone in as we were doing pancakes, thanks to Joe for making them. We were all wrapped in blankets as it turned cold, we ended the evening around 11.30 p.m.

Wednesday--- RAINED very heavy in the night but soon dried up. Kev & Bob got up early & went back into Fareham to buy more BBQ lighters as more members wanted them, after breakfast Joe drove us to Southampton, we found a massive shopping centre, it was us girls dream!!!! Kiera got lots & lots. As it was dull today, no one BBQ’d tonight, we sat in Joe and Julie’s awning playing games, we had such a laugh with “YES and NO” game, a peg game and “Who am I” game, Kev and I went to bed 11.30 p.m and left the others drinking.

Thursday--- Bob woke up with a sore head so he didn’t want breakfast, so Kev just cooked for Joe, we then set off to Portsmouth once again, but Kev drove this time, we had a brilliant day round the docks, the Mary Rose was great, and we learnt a lot of our history today, we had another walk around before heading back to camp around 5ish, everyone was lazing in the sun, some had another bike ride, we certainly have made use of our bikes on this holiday. Another BBQ, then under the gazebos for more fun and games, I made 3 pass the parcels, I think the camp site couldn’t believe it as people were coming round and staring at us. We also had to make something out of straws and cheesy balls, as it went round we had to add to it !!!! Poor Diane didn’t come down as she had had too much sun today, but I did get some nice photos of Peter playing.

Friday--- WOW – HOT! HOT! HOT!, we were outside by 7.30 a.m as it’s so hot, this is better weather than we had in France. Kev and Derek made us all massive omelettes for breakfast, they had everything in them. Some members went off to the docklands again today, some went out for a bike ride, some went into Gosport for their last shopping trip, others went for a long walk through the forest. Kev took Bob, Deb and me back to Lee-on-the-Solent, so he could have a swim in the sea, we sat on the beach, had an ice cream and the men had a walk to the shops, what a great day to finish our holiday, got back to camp, everyone was tidying away getting ready for the off tomorrow. We are all going out tonight over to the club house for Harry’s 70th birthday next week, I got balloons and banners to decorate where we were sitting, we had a nice meal, then back to our vans, I put the kettle on, Kev set the TV up outside so we could watch it, we didn’t have a late night as we were getting up early.

We have had such a brilliant holiday, many thanks to Harry & Gill for arranging it for us and thanks to all our company.  We wish you all a safe drive home, see you all on the next rally ......... also we must thank  Janet for arranging our meal.

15th - 17th MAY

 BLAKE HOUSE FARM

Arrived on Friday evening to find many vans already there. A few stragglers arrived after me to make a total of 21 units.

I waited a short while for my tea as Kelly was kind enough to go to the local chip shop and came back with loads of packets of chips etc. for what seemed like half the site – thanks Kelly.

Got set up and 9.00 came so it was all over to the gazebos to pay our dues and have a bit of a natter, although for about half an hour we had to compete with the noise of rain beating on the gazebos.

Saturday dawned slightly wet after a few showers in the night.

The daytime was free to do as we pleased, most went over to the car boot sale at the other end of field for a quick browse when it opened at 11.00.

I think Kev and Joe nabbed most of the few bargains that were there.

After that some went into Braintree or Freeport, others went round the craft centre or just lazed around on site.

5.00 came and, although it was a bit overcast and windy some members set up for the communal barbecue to cook dinner.

8.00 came and it was over to the gazebos for Janet’s 65th birthday party.

We had a long game of “pass-the-parcel”, with multiple parcels in circulation which each seemed to be wrapped in a complete newspaper.

It is, originally, a kids game and it was certainly played like that with a lot of throwing around of the removed paper wrappers – mostly at Joe).

All great fun for everyone.

That was followed by a balloon game with people trying to make animals, hats or whatever. The trouble was, the balloons were so hard to blow up, even Kev was struggling. Many people went a very strange colour and got light headed.

Eventually Dave Kemp came to the rescue with a battery operated balloon pump, although, to be fair Gary managed to blow his up manually as did one or two others. Janet was soon adorned with various balloon hats and other accessories. The next game has to rate as a 77 club classic.

Janet was brought in blindfolded and had to identify which of seven men was Syd by rubbing baby oil on their bare chests and having a general feel from waist to chin. Now, someone said, it was like having the seven dwarves in the front and asked which one was Grumpy.

From where I was watching, they certainly all had smiles on their faces and as far as Janet was concerned she was certainly feeling Happy – 7 times!

The evening was rounded off with half an hour of typical 77 Club style karaoke and then, all to soon, it was time to go back to the vans.

Sunday – another wet start after more showers and over to the thankfully, dry inside gazebos for coffee, competition results and the cutting of Janet’s birthday cake, provided by Sarah who seems to be forever deemed to be referred to a “ Susan” after being wrongly called that at an earlier rally. Thanks Sue!)

After coffee we rallied around to take the gazebos down after which, predictably, the rain stopped and the sun came out. Most members then began to gradually drift away leaving, as far as I remember, about four still there when I left at about 2.00.

All in all, an excellent weekend, even with the weather as it was. May there be many more like it (preferably with better weather)

Peter Eusden.

Fri—Kev had today off of work so we came early, not many members were here as they had gone out, thanks to Deb for Kevin's drink. It was very windy but at least the sun was shining. Syd, Bob and Deb put the gazebos up while we set up, more members came, (21 vans), it was over to the gazebos to pay our dues, we had our youngest member come this weekend, Keeley Adams-Lewis, we didn’t see her awake at all, lets pray she stays that good. The rain poured down tonight so we didn’t hang around, thanks Deb for your help with the teas.

Sat—Woke to very wet ground as it rained hard in the night, but the sun did come out, my sister came this morning in time for breakfast, we had a wander over to the boot sale, it wasn’t very big but lots of bargains. Lannette and I had a look around the craft shops, Kev and our lot went to North Weald Market, it was so cold they didn’t hang around, some members even went swimming to pass the rainy time, and they had a brilliant time, thanks for taking the children. We got more good news, Donna Adams gave  birth to a little boy, congrats to you both and to Pam and Derek, happy grand parenting. A few BBQ'd at 5 p.m., Kev and I went over to the gazebos to set up for our party night, we had lots of things for Janet’s 65th birthday party, thanks to all that brought food over for the American supper. The children made up a little song and dance for her, then we had pass the parcel with the usual cheating, I brought some modelling balloons to make things, not many things got made as we couldn’t blow the bloody things up. Gary had got it, so he tried to show us all, but  there were lots of red faces, Janet got all the sculptured balloons after, (not that they looked much), we had our supper, then it was time for more fun and laughter. We got 7 "Adonis's" (men), sat them down with their tops off, then Janet had a blind fold on and had to guess who the hunks were, rubbing baby oil over their chests, she really looked as though she was enjoying herself, (but she did guess Syds belly). Kev asked her what Adonis she wanted to take home, it was number 7 (Syd), we ended our evening with our usual 77 club singing, it did run over till 11.10 p.m., so we had to turn the music off, sorry to Dave N and Rob, but you can sing first next time, we have got such eager singers, we hope Janet had a good evening and thanks to all our men for helping Janet have a smile on her face!!!!!

Sun—It rained so hard in the night, over to the gazebos, they were wet, but Kev had put every ones chairs in the middle last night before he shut up, but he missed one of Bobs so that got soaked, so sorry We sang happy birthday to Janet as she is 65 today, Susan, (Sarah), made her a beautiful cake, thanks to Deb for your help once again in making teas, the rained came down heavy, no one hung around, but we were the last ones to go, hope you all had a good weekend, see many of you on holiday.

Rally Report for May Day at Shotley

We arrived on Saturday lunchtime (this was due to Justin building the much needed bed in our VW camper, Bertie!) to join Justin’s Mum & Clive. This was our first rally out as a couple. Justin of course had been caravanning with the ‘77’ since he was 3 years old. Many older members seemed surprised that he had actually managed to grow up!

However, on to the rally report, which we are told, we must write as we won the arrival prize – even though this was quite obviously a fix, mentioning no names!!

Friday was a complete mystery as we didn’t arrive until Saturday.

Saturday was a free day for people to do as they pleased; it seemed a lot of people went out for a nice stroll, to then return to camp four hours later having walked a small marathon. I’m glad we sat around doing nothing but relaxing all day!

Around 5.00 p.m hordes of men appeared with BBQ’s.  To Justin this was just like when he was a child, although he was excited about the prospect of having his very own BBQ this year rather than sharing Clives. To me, Emily, it was an extraordinary sight, lots of men with matching BBQ’s, a BBQ chair and a beer in their hands and big smiles on their faces – hmmm!!! Dinner was duly cooked on the BBQ’s and thankfully it tasted good!!

At 8.00 p.m., it was over to the hall for the evening entertainment. An 80’s quiz night. Justin had no trouble working out the rubix cube and the film titles from the pictures! The quiz was quite difficult but great fun and our team, The Rubix Cubers came forth, I think!! 80’s singstar ended the evening perfectly with Justin and Bill Adams attempting to sing, but concentrating more on their ‘running man’ technique!!

On Sunday the weather was not as kind as on Saturday. But the maypole was still danced around, the tug-o-war took place and a May queen competition produced a queen and a princess. Sunday evening was a 77 race night which seemed to be enjoyed by all. My arms are still sore even now from all that twisting business – I thought it looked fun to have a go – I was wrong!!! But I was very impressed with the more experienced racer – the concentration on their faces was brilliant.

Monday dawned and after coffee, the awards ceremony, birthday and celebratory wishes it was home time.

We enjoyed it so much we will be rallying with you all again soon.

Kedington Rally

24th to 26th April

Friday

Hoping to join the Thursday club, but unfortunately didn’t arrive until Friday morning (hopefully make it for the next rally). There were already about six caravans and we soon set up and spent the rest of the afternoon making the most of the sunshine outside, with everyone gradually joining us as they arrived. Over to the hall to pay our fees, Michelle, Paul, Sarah, Rob and children were hosting and arranged an “Arrse about face” weekend.

Saturday

Woke up to sunshine but with a stronger wind and plenty of clouds, but it didn’t keep us in, and at lunchtime went with Kev and Karla to M & M Caravans to have a nose around the caravans and then into Haverhill for a look at the shops.

After a little sit in the sunshine, we ladies had to light up our barbeques. I must say I think we all did very well, and I didn’t know whilst cooking you had Scooby snacks, well worth cooking the barbeque for ! Some of the men managed to get the salad and potatoes to the table at the correct time, and very well presented.

In the evening we were all in the hall for fun and games, with our tables set up with our names and separate men and ladies teams. Fun was had with the men trying to fasten their bras, we ladies were much better at knotting our ties. Our team made a wooden bicycle very quickly, but still managed to come last. The men had to ice and decorate a cake with some very impressive results (not sure about stamping on the icing to flatten it out though, which one of the men’s team did). The ladies then had to wire a plug. It was a very entertaining evening and thank you very much to all the hosts for all their hard work, and especially the children for their help and even sweeping the hall at the end of the evening.

P.S. Now know some very good make-up artists in the club, if anyone is looking for that special make-over etc. for a special day or evening.

Sunday

Teas, coffees, prize giving and raffle outside today, which made a nice change, made and served up by Rob and Paul. After lunch a group of us walked down to the stream to watch Beau performing in the water, which he enjoyed very much and tried to drag a few branches, after being entertained by Beau we soon packed up and returned home.

Thank you once again to Michelle, Paul, Sarah, Rob and all the children for an excellent weekend.

See you all soon

Love Deb and Bob

1st to 4th May

Shotley Village Hall & Field

Derek and I were the first to arrive on Thursday, we were surprised to see that no-one else was there, but it wasn't long before Janet and Syd arrived followed by Cyril and Jean, and it wasn't long before the field started to fill up with the "early birds", after dinner a few of us decided to take a stroll to the local, where we had a couple of drinks and a nice chat, then back to our vans.

Friday saw the arrival of most of the 77 club, which was a bit worrying in case we couldn't all fit on the field, but thanks to the co-operations of all the members everybody was soon accommodated, but we were told that a couple more were due to arrive the next morning, but we all managed to squeeze in, all 37 of us.

The weather was promising to be kind to us and Friday was glorious sunshine with everyone sitting out and making the most of it, least it wouldn't last, we had to go into Ipswich to a caravan place as our motor mover had packed up and Syd kindly offered to take us as he said he new the way and was going to get a couple of bits for Pete's caravan. Friday evening we all went over to the hall to pay our due's and get an agenda for the weekend from Jennifer, Dave and Peter, who were our hosts.

Saturday was even better than Friday and Dave had arranged to take some of the children down to the mariner and announced that anyone who wanted to, could join them, "It's only about a mile and a bit", some mile and a bit, it was more like 4 miles there and 4 miles back, we were exhausted!!! but it was good fun and we all had some prawns and a pint when we got there, and crawled all the way back to camp. After a mass BBQ we all gathered in the hall for an 80's quiz night, good job we had Kelly & Dave in our team, none of us pensioners new anything about the eighties, sorry you got lumbered with us Kelly, better luck next time, you might be grateful for us if anyone does a 50's or 60's.

Sunday the weather wasn't as kind, which was a shame as the Maypole Dancing and activities were planned for the afternoon, but at least it didn't rain, and we were able to sit out wrapped in our blankets. The kids, big and small, young and old, all enjoyed their yearly dance round the Maypole, and this year a May Queen and Princess were crowned, namely Sarah(queen), and Kelsey (princess).

Sunday evening we all gathered in the hall for a 77 club style race night, with the usual cheating, but a good laugh was had by all.

Monday all too soon the weekend was over, thanks for a lovely time and look forward to seeing you all soon.

24th 26th April 2009

KEDINGTON SUFFOLK

Friday-

We left a little later than we wanted as Kev had a course for work, but we had a nice drive, lots of vans already there, with the sun shining and members sitting outside eating their dinner. We soon got set up, Kev sent the children to the chippy round the corner, this is such a nice venue (thanks Harry), I was surprised to see so many vans here this weekend seeing that we have another rally next week, (18 vans). It was over to the hall to pay Kev & Harry. Chelle, Paul, Sarah and Rob were hosting this rally so they made teas for us, we have a great time ahead, we had our normal chats then off to bed.

Saturday-

Woke to a nice dry day, a few of us drove to M M caravans, then onto the shops. Dave N took the children down to the river for fishing and playing down the stream, Josh even went swimming, they had a whale of a time and didn’t want to go back to their vans for lunch, we had a lazy day, then it was time for our 77 club BBQ.  This time us girls had to BBQ & the men had to prepare the food in the vans, we had to take our time as we have always been told that chicken takes at least 3 cans of beer!!!! We heard lots of moaning & shouting, our men don’t know where the pots ‘n pans are kept, some are such moaners.

Hayley had drove my sister Lannette & Ellis to see us, they also had dinner, we ate outside as the sun was shining, after the men washed up it was over to the hall for “fun & games”, we were put into groups, ladies versus men, we had to answer men things & men had to answer ladies things, us girls had to put on a tie and wire up a plug, the men had to put makeup on and put on a bra, I think the men won, that one they really were good at, Dave N & Harry were naturals, after we had to tidy up the hall as the church were in, in the morning, thanks for all your help.

Sunday-

Another nice morning, we had coffee outside as the sun was shining, Kev did us a cook up, then we went down to the river for Beau to have a swim, he picked up every tree in the river instead of his dumb bell.

Thanks to our hosts, you did a brilliant job. These past rallies have been so well attended it must make Harry’s job worth it. We have had such fun, it really does make a difference when our weekends are hosted, so if any members wish to host just speak to Syd, we all join in the fun so why don’t you get your thinking caps on and help our weekends go with a BANG!!!!!!!!

Look forward to seeing you all next week, the more members come out the more fun we shall have, it helps if you support the members who host rallies as it makes the weekend go so much easier. New ideas are always welcome.

Easter at Holme Hale,

Norfolk

9th to 13th April

This was our first rally of the year and we arrived Thursday afternoon to find quite a few vans already there, and some had even arrived on the Wednesday. After we had set up we were soon tucking into a nice roll and a cuppa, which Rita had kindly prepared for us. Around 9 o’clock we all gathered in the hall to pay our due’s, collect our itinery for the weekend and have a chat.

Friday we awoke to sunshine, which was a pleasant surprise as the weathermen had threatened us with rain, after a lazy morning most of us gathered for a “short walk”, which Gill had downloaded from the internet, in true 77 club fashion off we all trooped with some turning back after a short distance, but the braver amongst us continuing to the end to be greeted with a lovely cup of tea or coffee and freshly buttered hot cross buns (no pub on route), then back to our vans to prepare our dinners in time for returning to the hall for our evening entertainment, a game of Mr and Mrs hosted by Penny and aided by Gill, and enjoyed by all.

Saturday, the weather wasn’t so kind to us today, and as it was a “free to do as you like”, we, like a few others, ventured out to the nearby village of Dereham in search of the caravan shop, as we had lost the cowling from our gas fire, then after a bit of shopping, returned to camp for a game of rounders, unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your stamina, we had to “abandon play due to rain”, after dinner we were back over to the hall for “Game Shows”, hosted by Jennifer, with the usual 77 club barracking and cheating, but all in good fun, another entertaining evening.

Sunday, 11.30 ish we all gathered in the hall for the children’s egg hunt and the Easter Bonnet Parade, which as usual showed the talents of the creative members of the club. The "boy and girl" of the year was announced and Thomas and Kiera received their awards from Syd, well done to you both.

It was then suggested that we had a communal dinner for any members that fancied it, it was agreed that dinner would be around 5 o’clock, leaving us enough time to digest dinner and be back to the hall by 8 o’clock, suitably booted for the Barn Dance, which Penny had been lucky enough to find us a caller from Leigh who was willing to travel up to Norfolk for us, he was excellent and I believe Syd has provisionally booked him for next year, can’t wait.

Monday, Came around all too soon, and it was over to the hall for prize giving, coffee/tea and farewells until the next time.

Hope to see you all soon

EASTER

HOLM-HALE

9th-13th April 2009

Wednesday

Yes, we were one of the early birds, although we got here 11.30 pm and shattered, we ended up down a long dark lane, Kev thought we went down the wrong road and needed me to get out and look, but I said "no way", Thanks to Deb for the HOT drinks, I went in their camper, while Syd, Bob & Harry helped Kev set up our van, many thanks.

Thursday

It rained in the night, but was dry when we got up. We went out with Bob & Deb for a drive to Swaffham,  had a very nice time looking in toot shops, gun shops and fishing shops, so next time we shall go shopping for us girls, got back, the sun came out, we had lunch outside the vans Joe, Julie & Kiera arrived so on went the kettle, we have 16 vans so far and more coming tomorrow, over to the lovely warm hall, it’s been painted this week, and new carpet laid today, we paid our fees to Kev & Harry and got our itinery, what fun we will have, it was so nice to see so many members out (23).

Friday

We had a lazy am, some went out to the caravan shop, we had our lunch outside again, and many members sat round chatting & catching up on things. We were going on a walk pm, thanks to Gill & Harry for arranging it, we met around the flag pole 1.30 pm and set off for our 2 mile walk, it was so nice around the village, we went along the stream, then back to camp for HOT cross buns and drinks, (many thanks to Julie, Deb & Sarah for helping me), everyone came over. A lot BBQ'd, then over to the hall for more fun of Mr 'n' Mrs, what a laugh, we had Sarah & Rob, they were 1st up, he put a lot of our men to shame for all the work he does in doors, (Sarah needs to give us some tips), and Jennifer’s dirty habits in the bedroom!!!! We certainly learnt a lot about our members, thanks to Gill & Penny for tonight.

Saturday

Woke to a little drizzle, but it soon stopped, Kev drove our lot to Dereham, Rob & Sarah followed, we had a nice look around & got some bargains, the big girls went off on their own, we meet up with them later, we sat outside for lunch as the sun came out again, Dave N got up a game of rounders, more cheating went on, thanks for a great time, he also set up things for the children, and Uncle Fred took them on a nature walk, they do love that, (my girls  still talk about his walks). Dave & Kelly came back with a dead pheasant, that had just been run over, for Kev to work with Beau, he has never had a pheasant before, but soon was retrieving it, then Uncle Fred had the job of skinning it, & was chasing us around with its head in his hands, (it was said that Fred had his cock in his hands), then Dave N cooked it on the BBQ and passed it around. Gary & Linda got out their electric bikes for a few to have a go, how funny was that, over to the hall for fun 'n games run by Jennifer, we had 4 teams, we played "The Price is Right", "Family Fortunes", "321", "Catch Phrase",  and many more, then 1 from each team  had to be dressed up in bin bags, then 2 from each team had to decorate and ice a cake blind folded, what a mess it turned out to be, with Derek spitting over his as he was giving instructions. The evening went so quick, that’s when you know you’ve had fun, many thanks Jennifer.

Sunday

A lovely morning again, over to the hall to set up for the egg hunt & bonnet parade, and boy and girl of the year, it was great to see all the hard work that had been put in, the men’s hats were great, what an effort, well done to you all. Congrats to Thomas and Kiera  for boy and girl of the year.

More HOT cross buns & drinks, thanks to Deb and Sarah for your help again, a lot of us were cooking a roast, so I suggested we all ate together in the main hall which was very nice, then we got it ready for tonight’s barn dance at 8 pm. We had a brilliant night, he was the best caller we’ve ever had, everyone said how good he was, so he will be booked again, many thanks to Penny for getting him, rolled into bed 1 am.

Monday

Another nice day, had breakfast outside, over to the hall for teas, prize giving and birthdays, we have had such a great weekend, it was a long way to drive but was worth every bit of the drive, a great venue thanks to Harry for booking it. Can we come back next year?, the hall & field was lovely.

I want to say it had done me so good, and thank you all for helping me forget the sad time that I’ve had leading up to Easter, you all helped me so much, your such special friends to me, I'll keep you posted about my sister Lunette, look forward to seeing you all soon x.

Brookfield’s Ongar

27th – 29th March

Friday 20th March (One week early the rally)

Packed and ready to go but only to find that Dave had make a right bulls up we had packed ONE WEEK EARLY! So we had to go over to the R.V and unpack all the clothes and food so we waited for another week which seemed like an eternity! Then we had to eat all the food that we got for the caravan that weekend  then do it all over again the following week.

Friday 27th March (correct date)

Dave left about 12.00pm and arrived at the site about 1.00pm-2.00pm and set up. Me, mum, Kelsey, and Kirsty (Kelsey’s friend) arrived about 6`ish and us kids went off and played for a little just before dinner, soon after it was time for us to do tea and coffee, I did the rattle around the vans for about 5 minutes in the cold, dark, windy field, we paid our dues and done our duties and gave the kids their weekend task, and that was to make something out of play dough, and the adults had their normal quiz which was very hard.  Soon it was time for bed because we were so tired....

Saturday 28th March

Woke up really early to a lovely day, or should I say the dull windy and rainy morning!  We started our play dough models at about 6.30 but did not wake mum and Dave until later! The wind and rain still carried on but it did not stop us going to North Weild market, but we bought loads of stuff and spent loads of money, we were there for almost 3 hours and I got two great bargains YYYEEESSS!!!

After we left the market we decided to find somewhere to let the dogs off for a run. We drove around the villages trying to find fields for the dogs, that was really hard, in the end we found one, they really enjoyed it. After all this we went to the Harvester and had dinner. Then we came back to our van and set up for tonight, we managed to finish our quiz despite holding it in a room which resembled a deep freeze, then some went home and some brave souls stayed for karaoke, at 11pm we all went home because we were cold and tired….

Sunday 29th March

Mum, Dave, Kelsey, Kirsty woke up really early, and low and behold typical rally, the sun was out on the day we were to go home!  Me, Kelsey and Kirsty did the raffle, and then went back and had some brekkie. Then suddenly it was time for us to go to the barn and set up and serve the teas.  As it was Busters birthday we decorated a load of cakes to celebrate and we had them with our tea. Guess who won the Saturday night quiz? L.B.C, but good try to the other group they did get a jar of wally's for being last! The kid’s winners were Corey for the young ones, Keira for the girls and me, Michael, for the boys, and not forgetting Linda who won the big kids prize. After we had teas and cleared everything away the kids went and played for a while and chased each other with hoops.  Harry decided he did not want to miss out and pulled us about.  So we kids had a go back and got Harry on the floor and we all attacked him. Harry is such a good laugh, but he still got up and said that he had taught us a lesson whilst dusting himself down!!!

Hope everyone had a good first weekend and hope for many more to come.

Michael, Kelsey, Dave and Kellie xxx

March 27th-29th

Friday

Looking forward to our first rally of 2009. It didn’t take long for us to get here, the sun was shining, but it was still a little chilly. A great turn out of 16 vans this weekend. It was lovely to see so many on our first rally. Especially June and Brian with their new camper van (how nice was that).  Dave, Kelly and children were hosting this rally. It was so nice to see all the children running around and playing safely.

Thanks to Julie for cooking our dinner tonight, as I have been on holiday to Tenerife and didn’t get back till early hours this morning. Over to the hall for teas and paying Kev. The children had a good competition for this weekend. They were given a plate and play dough and had to design something. Kiera won for the girls, and Michael won for the boys, and Corey won for the young ones. Linda also wanted to join in. She made a terrific sculpture of all the caravans on the field this weekend, which also consisted of Kevin, Syd and Beau. Not a late night as it was quite cold.

Saturday

Woke to wind and rain. A few went out for a drive. It was lovely and warm in my van so I stayed in to read by book and relax.  Kev started to get twitchy so he wanted us to go to North Weald. Bob and Deb, and June and Brian came with us. Joe had to go to work and Julie went to visit her sister. The sun came out, it started to get warm as we walked around the market. Then all of a sudden the black clouds came over, the wind picked up and hail stones as big as 5 pence pieces were hitting us in the face. We ran back to the car, we got drenched and was so cold. As we drove back the sun came back out, but it didn’t stay for long and it started to rain once again. Julie cooked our dinner again (so I owe you one).

Over to the hall for our music quiz and a sing song. It was so loud with all the shouting and screaming but it did help to warm us up. I cut a few hairs as we have got to get away early tomorrow as our caravan has got to go in for a service. A brilliant night had by all.

Sunday

Woke to lovely sunshine, what a change from yesterday. Dave N and Harry were playing with the children, they ended up in the rugby tackle. I hope the children weren’t too rough with you. After coffee we packed away and said our goodbyes. Many thanks to Dave and Kelly for this weekend. What a brilliant time we had. It was nice to see you all once again. Look forward to Easter.

NEW YEAR

AT

NORTON VILLAGE HALL

27th—2nd Jan 09

Saturday 27th

We left around 10 am, I have been so ill since Xmas day, I didn’t think I would be coming as I’ve not done a thing in the van, I slept all the way here, and stayed in the car while Kev sorted out where members were going to park, once he had done that and sorted our van out, I then fell asleep for a few more hours, I did feel much better once I’d woke up. Kev had been over the hall sorting it out, we stayed in the small hall as it was much more cosy. It was over to the hall for our usual chats and showing off our Xmas presents, I got Syd a new puzzle which he and the children soon got started on. I had an early night while others listened to music.

Sunday 28th

It was nice and sunny this morning, but cold, some walked down to the little shop, us lot drove to Bury to get a few bargains, I do feel so much better today (thank god). I made a butternut squash soup for lunch with HOT crusty bread, so that went down well with all that had some, even those who said they wouldn’t like it! Kev put on a DVD and we sat around watching it. Lilly and the girls made lots of cakes for our supper tonight; we stayed in the small hall and watched more DVD’s. We sorted out what members were donating for our 77 club dinner. We are doing it on Tuesday, as it will be too much of a rush on Wednesday. We have got 11 vans here so far; more are turning up tomorrow and the rest on Wednesday.

Monday 29th

Woke to lovely sunshine, we took Beau out for a long walk, when we got back I cooked a breakfast for Kev & Joe then they went shopping, I stayed here to cook all the meats for tomorrows dinner, many thanks for those that helped to prepare the vegetables and for all the donations of food. More vans turned up, so Kev sorted those, and then back to the main hall, Kev put his dart board up and a few played darts. Kev then got his laptop out to get ready for tonight’s music. A few of us cooked in the kitchen and we had a communal dinner. Members started to come over to the hall; we had 2 teams, the "Not Sures" and the "Champion Snorers". Kev was our quizmaster and the "Not Sures" were the winning team, which I was on, there are such bad losers in this club, (Joe) as his team lost!!! It just goes to show who the clever ones are. A brilliant night had by all. Bob and Debbie cooked nibbles and past them around. We ended up with soft music. Kev and Bob cut our meats for the dinner tomorrow.

Tuesday 30th

Another nice dry day, it was over to the hall early this morning, Sarah was already over there cooking her profiteroles ready for our deserts. Julie and I got the pigs in blankets ready and the stuffing balls. I made the meat gravy, I don’t suppose there will be much left as Chelle kept drinking it!! 11.30 a.m., it was time to go on our 77 club New Year walk. Not everyone came, but we had a lovely walk and ended up in a pub. The lazy ones that didn’t want to go on the walk met us for a drink; we were back in the kitchen for 2 p.m. and started cooking. It smelt good as the roast potatoes were crisping nicely; it helped with 3 bottles of Bailey’s being drunk. I’m surprised we were still standing. Kev got all the tables sorted as we were catering for 48 members. The children had gone into Bury to buy a few bargains. They all enjoyed themselves. When the children got back they went into the main hall and made up a little show for us to enjoy this evening. We all sat down at 5 p.m. for our dinner, Syd said grace, and then we got serving, there was plenty to go around, so our late arrivals joined us for dinner – We hope that everyone enjoyed their dinner as much as we enjoyed cooking it for them. (I’d like to thank all our girls for their hard work) We had lots of deserts, and many thanks to Sarah for her 100’s of profiteroles. Also thanks to those who helped wash and dry up. 8 p.m., it was time to go into the big hall for the children’s show. What talent we have, they really did entertain us. Then back into the small hall for our usual sing song. Thanks to all that took part – George makes a very good puppeteer!! I went to bed at 11 p.m., but the rest were still going strong. More vans are turning up tomorrow ready for our New Years Eve party.

Wednesday 31st

Woke to another brilliant sunny day. The weather has been cold but great. Over to the hall for a big tidy up and clear away all our pots and pans. We tidied all the mess away ready for the church coming tomorrow, we all gathered to decorate the hall at 2 p.m. and have our usual warming homemade soup and crusty bread. (Thanks to Chelles help, she now knows how to make soup). Our little hall and kitchen has to be sparkling clean by tonight as the church ramblers are meeting here at 9.30 a.m. They have invited us to go with them if we so wish!!! But after a late night, I doubt if anyone will go, they are coming here for their teas & hot mince pies. Julie popped to Bury this morning, I felt poorly so I stayed in the warm, I wish I felt better I can’t seem to shake this cold off. We had lots of members that haven’t joined us for many years, it was nice to see you all, hope you enjoyed the party. It was over to the hall for our Big 77 club party, a BIG THANK YOU must go to Peter for all his work, he made such good timing as midnight struck and the dongs went off, thanks to all those who made such an effort in dressing up, some were so easy but so great, we danced the night away, it went so quickly, we finished at 2 a.m., many thanks to those who stayed behind to help us tidy up as we needed it clean for the church in case they needed the big hall, rolled into bed at 3.30 a.m.

Thursday 1st

Its Lilly’s Birthday today, we usually meet over the hall for her cards & pressies, but she had them in our van instead, it was nice and sunny when we got up although Kev was back over the hall at 7.30 a.m., (he must be mad), doing the last bits of tidying up, some members went early this morning, we wish them a safe drive home, we had a lazy day over to the hall, some members wanted to watch a DVD on the BIG screen, I offered popcorn and choc ices, while other members stayed in the small hall playing card games, we then sat around & chatted and some played darts .

Friday 2nd

Our last day today, over for coffee, thanks to Becky L for helping me. Syd said things about 2009, Kev said his bits, Janet done lots & lots of birthdays, (it wasn’t just Lilly’s this year), members didn’t hang around, we said our goodbyes, we hope you all had a good time, we were the last ones to leave at 1.30 p.m., the end of another year, we pray we all have good health for 2009 and happy caravanning

Love Kev Karla Lilly Beau xxxxx...

We arrived late as Kev had an appointment to have a pair of ear plugs fitted, (for shooting, not my nagging), but he ended up not having them done as the lady said he had an ear infection, so he needed to see the nurse, so that was a waste of time, we got to Copdock around 8.30 pm to find 5 vans already there, other members stayed in the hotel, Chelle & Paul had got lost so we ended up there before them, thanks to Bob & Deb for letting us all eat our take away in their motor home, Paul was poorly so he ended staying in the hotel room and falling asleep, we had drinks & chatted until late, Rob walked Chelle back to her room.

Saturday

We got up, our vans were so nice and warm, but it was cold outside, we popped to Tesco and had our breakfast and got things for our lunch, some went on to do xmas shopping. We got back to our vans, I put the kettle on and got our nibbles ready, we had it in Bobs mobile home. Mark Dehann & Ann turned up, it was so nice to see him again, Hayley & Stuart also turned up, we had a lovely time, eating, drinking, we started early, it was time to get ready for our dance, we went over to our venue at 6pm, I took photos of our members, it’s so nice to see all the lady’s beautiful dresses, and our men looking so handsome in their suits, it was also nice to see members that haven’t been out this year, the food was great, nice and hot, and plenty to go round, a very nice venue, we would like to come back here. Jack & Edna were voted man & woman of the year, Dave Kemp won the fishing trophy, Peter & us won the most rallies, Kev said for Peter to have the yellow t-shirt, but Joe said no, he will get him one too!! We said our goodbye’s to Bill, he will be stepping down as vice chairman, we shall miss his input very much, (thanks Bill so much), the music started & the dancing began, the evening was soon over, we said our goodbye’s to those staying in the hotel and thanked Syd & Janet for arranging our evening, we all had a brilliant night even though not many came, it was back into Bob & Debs for more nibbles & drinks to finish the night.

Sunday

Well, what a shock when we opened our blinds, snow was falling, it was beautiful. Kev went outside & took photos, it really did finish our weekend off, I cooked breakfast while the snow was falling even harder, some members made there way home, we didn’t leave until 1.30 p.m., it had stopped by then the main roads were fine, we have had a brilliant weekend, we thank you all who came, and hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did, once again thanks to Syd & Janet for all your hard work.

Love Kev & Karla xxxx
